[[We on that 7th avenue, hoo hoo,

Groovin on down 7th avenue,
Lookin so cool in that stuntin new new
In the city thats known, always known to chew You up
and spit you out too
Lights Flashing, It’s a disco ball
Life’s so grand, when you’re standing tall
if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere
But there's a loss to gain, don’t call it unfair
Pearls and Chains, got my bow on
Ready to riot, til the break of dawn
(We’re standing at the center of the earth)
(Drowning in glamour as if it equates our worth)
So glad to see the streets that are gilded
With any and everyone’s dreams
But in a city that can make or break you
Tell me what does it mean?

I'm on that 37th Avenue
In Queens with a clean Manhattan view
Watching heads bobbing, started from the bottom
Got 'em all on a swivel when I'm passing through
Gotta take my time 'cause I'm pretty when I'm walking
Looking like a dime a dozen in the city when I'm rocking
Black shoes, black jacket, black tie, black skinny jeans
Black hat, all black, all the time, everything
Any means necessary, green stationary
Talk to the glove, leave a message with my secretary
Class is a costume, I'm putting it on
Like a bag on Canal Street, Vouis Luitton
I'm on a meteoric rise that I'm faking till I take it
Walk a red carpet made out of those who didn't make it
Anybody in between me and that brass ring
I'm throwing under a bus, the M116

The Underground society
They build the world for you and me
Grinding hard, beneath our feet
They paint the sky, they carve our streets
(Oh, lifes unfair
Oh, tell me, do you care?)

I love this whole album: It just captures a wide range of experiences and affects the listener with a wide range of emotions.
I first liked this album because of the nerdcore elements, but I fell in love when I realized that these verses were true poetry, speaking to a deeper truth and beauty unlike most hip-hop I've heard. "A Poet" exemplifies this with its bittersweet message about how poetry is not valued. This is the first hip-hop tune I've ever shed a tear over.

This album really captures the feel of the series. The hope that's hidden behind rage, fear, despair. You can sense all of it. EyeQ has a great support cast on this album as well, with none of the featured artists feeling out of place, they all feel as if they are strengthened by their placement here. Definitely glad I picked up a copy of this album as it was well worth twice the price I paid. Looking forward to more amazing things from EyeQ. smugzug
